Carven Ong is an established Malaysian designer from Kuala Lumpur. He is well known for sophisticated couture pieces from breathtaking wedding gowns to chic evening gowns. Ong's dedication to the Malaysian fashion industry has turned his passion and hobby into a lifetime career.

He his first collection debuted in 1991 at MODA Wanita Fashion Show. Since then, he has moved from strength to strength, and establishing a strong brand presence.  He then founded the Carven Academy of Fashion where talented young students were trained into becoming award winning designers.

Ong established the Carven Ong Couture label, which creates exclusive custom-made bridal and evening gowns. Their intricate beading and lace details have made his designs very sought after by many brides-to-be.

In 2017, Ong had the opportunity to work with the Hollywood's premier costume designer, Mary E. Vogt to produce couture pieces for “Crazy Rich Asians”, an American romantic comedy film adapted from Kevin Kwan's novel with the same title. He designed and custom-made the iconic two-piece waterproof wedding gown and the sequin jumpsuit worn by the character “Araminta Lee”. Amazed by his work, Vogt eventually commissioned other couture dresses made by Ong to be used in the film.

Besides couture and bridal, Ong also created the ready-to-wear brand Carven Ong, which focuses on elegant classic and casual looks, matched with special crafted items and accessories. The entire ranges of these looks are exclusively available at major departmental stores in Malaysia; namely SOGO, Parkson and Metrojaya.

Ong is a member of the Malaysian Official Designers' Association (MODA), and is actively involved in high profile events locally and internationally such as the China-ASEAN Fashion Week and many more. He also launched his first book, 'Carven Ong's Guide to the Fashion Industry'. The book tells the story of Ong's 30 year experience in the industry.

Whether he is a fashion designer, lecturer, couturier or entrepreneur, Ong has created a blazing trail in the Malaysian fashion industry by turning his passion into a lifelong career.
