Justin Yap collection is a Kuala Lumpur-based designer ready-to-wear label offering affordable, versatile pieces to urban cosmopolitan women who desire to be confident in their dressing. The label was launched in 2015, after the designer’s eponymous bespoke label, Justin Yap. Precision in tailoring is the core value that drives the vision of the brand. The idea of contrast and juxtaposition has always been the DNA of the label. Signature codes like form fitting silhouettes, the colour turquoise and modern abstract prints play a huge part in the brand’s collections.

With the raw talent of a frisky designer-to-be and a humble-pie background in which he grew up watching his grandmother sew, Kuala Lumpur-born Justin Yap spent his childhood crafting woven dreams of becoming his own brand. This self-assured lad approaches fashion with much appreciation for juxtaposition; his love for contrasting colours shines bright in every collection, but none more so than in his signature hue of bold turquoise.

Adopting sartorial skills from couturier Carven Ong at his academy in 2004, Justin demonstrates precision in tailoring by creating innovative garment constructions with a strong understanding in textile to perfect form. The result? Clean, understated, classic styles that shine as effervescent trends on their own. Justin founded his womenswear label in 2007 after winning the MIFA Best Evening Wear Designer award in 2005. In 2012, Justin launched his womenswear ready-to-wear line named justin yap collection which was showcased during Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week and which is currently stocked at In Justin’s perspective, garments are all functioning limbs of one’s self-confidence. His collections often stem from his elaborations on simple principles of construction and form, drawing simultaneously from couture and tailoring traditions with a reasonable dose of luxury.
