KANOE is the Child of the Tropics. It is a Homegrown label known for creating today's Ready-to-Wear Batik Designs for everyday delight. Inspired by embracing our own culture and identity as a Tropical Child infusing the spirit of carefree joy and wonder into what we do.

Kanoe was founded by Noelle Kan, a socially minded fashion designer with a keen eye for
sustainability, ethical practices, and long term partnerships with local refugee communities. “We are all part of the bigger picture in caring for the earth and its impact on our future generations,” says the fashion designer who had her early training in Sydney before winning a scholarship to continue with her Masters in Fashion and Art in Florence, Italy.

An adventurer at heart, Noelle’s experiences in doing social work in the Philippines and working in the education sector underscores her understanding that sustainability, preservation and education go hand in hand. “We work mainly with cotton and linen, which are natural fibres. Cotton is gentle on the skin and biodegradable. We also work with local and international batik artisans to preserve the traditional art of batik making,” she explains.

The company ethos centres on the importance of healthy relationships – with the earth and other business areas – forming the basis of a truly successful and sustainable endeavour.
